The Astana Tumulus Complex in Astana, Turpan is located under the ground. Going down a slope leads to a burial chamber, which accompanies an antechamber when the tomb is big in size. The inside of the burial chamber is decorated with paintings and a variety of burial accessories, such as human figures and dyed goods, are placed therein. The funeral method was interment and due to the dry climate, mummified corpses have been found.
In the picture surrounded with a brown frame, a man who is trying to take off a hood under a tree and a young attendant who holds the left sleeve of the man's garment with both hands are depicted. On the back of this picture, a family register that Gaoning district, Liuzhong prefecture of Turpan issued in 716 was pasted. Since the storage period of family registers was defined, this drawing must have been created after around 730 when the storage period of this family register expired.
