This work was created in the Heian (or Tang) period. "Kamiuta" is a song to praise the virtue of gods or a song about celestial and terrestrial gods sung with an intonation of imayo songs. There are four-phrase kamiuta (imayo style) and two-phrase kamiuta (tanka style).
As historical materials on kagurauta (songs for kagura, sacred music) that were transcribed in the Heian period, there exist "Kamiutasho" (possessed by Tokyo National Museum: national treasure. Originally possessed by the Abe family, a family that has passed on imperial music), which is believed to have been written by Minamoto no Nobuyoshi, and "Kagura Wagon Hifu" (possessed by Yomei Bunko: national treasure. Originally possessed by the Konoe family), which is believed to have been written by Fujiwara no Michinaga. Both are valuable materials for research on song literature and handwriting. It was designated an important cultural property on January 23, 1923.
