Closely resembling a medicine jar of the Shôsô-in repository in form, the urn once contained cremated remains. Both the lid and body are spotted with tricolor glazes of white, green, and brown. Judging from the bright colors, the shape, and the techniques employed, this urn is thought to have been made during the Nara period, and is considered a representative example of tricolor-glazed pottery of that time.
The urn was encased within a talc container with a round, hollowed-out space. It was unearthed in 1963. No other artifacts were found in the tomb.
