These volumes are a collection of poems by the celebrated Tang-dynasty poet Bo Juyi (also known as Bai Juyi, 772-846). According to its postscript, this set was transcribed by the court official Fujiwara Mochiakira (Tomoaki) in the fifth month of Kasho 2 (1107). Mochiakira's family included generations of instructors of composition, and Mochiakira himself served in this capacity.
