This early manuscript comes from a series on ancient practices for court dance and music and orchestral music compiled by Koma no Chikazane (1177-1242), entitled Kyokunsho (Instruction and Admonitions). According to its postscript, Toyohara no Kaneaki (1287-1333) transcribed this work in 1317 (Bunpo 1). On the reverse side of the paper appears a postscript, dated Oei 1 (1394), by Toyohara no Kazuaki, which indicates that this volume was later "inherited from Todo [music group]."
