According to the postscript of this text, this work, at first glance, appears to be a copy that was transcribed in 1123 of the Kaho 2 (1095) edition of Ennin nitto guho mokuroku, the inventory of scriptures and ritual utensils that the priest Ennin (794-864) brought back to Japan from China. However, on the reverse side of the paper are several documents dated from 1245 to 1248, indicating that the inventory was copied onto discarded paper from this later period. The documents on the reverse are important in that they pertain to the Eight Discourses on the Lotus Sutra held at the mausoleum (Gobyo) in Yokawa on Mounta Hiei. At the end of the inventory, its copyist inscribes the date of its completion as Meitoku 2 (1391).
