A pair of crested myna birds amid a variety of flowers and plants have been painted over the entire surface of this plate in sweeping brushstrokes. Crested mynas were a popular painting subject as they were considered an auspicious bird in China.
The outer periphery of the reverse side features depictions of bamboo, a pine tree, and a plum tree in overglaze enamel. Although there is an inscription written in the center of the reverse side, it is difficult to decipher because it is painted over in green overglaze enamel. The plate was owned by an antiques collector, Shiobara Matasaku, who was also the founder of Sankyo Co., Ltd.
