　This haniwa has slit eyes, a unique nose, a short tail, hair on the back of the neck and hoofs with a slit at the tip of the legs. It is a superb molded object where the characteristics of a wild boar are accurately depicted via simple representation. Since wild boar haniwa are often found with dog haniwa and hunter haniwa, they are considered to be animal haniwa that constitute a hunting scene. The large crack that runs from the left foreleg to the back and both sides seems to be so-called "kiln damage" due to firing, suggesting that the haniwa were produced and used in strict accordance with an original plan. This is a valuable material for the study of the meaning of representational haniwa.
