When Kibi no Makibi was appointed Udaijin (Minister of the Right: junior minister of state), his daughter, Yuri, dedicated this transcription of the Issai Sutra to requite the state's favor. At the end, it says that this was dedicated by "Sho Shii-ge Kibi no Yuri on October 8, 766." According to `Saidaiji Shizai Ryukicho', 5282 scrolls of the Sutra were originally stored in Shio-do of Saidaiji Temple. Today, they are separately possessed by Saidaiji, Ishiyamadera, and others. This transcription, which is written in a bold, dignified manner on thin-sumi ruled yellow paper, is a sutra copy representative of the late Nara period.
