Shimojo in Koshibe, Harimakoku was originally given from Tameie to his heir, Tameuji. However, later Tameie's second wife, Abutsuni, gave birth to Tamesuke. Tameie decided to take back Shimojo from Tameuji and give it to Tamesuke. This document (the first one) is a letter written by Tameie (72 years old) to that effect and bears Tameuji's seal showing his agreement about returning the land. The second document ("a waiver written by Fujiwara no Tameuji": an important cultural property possessed by Tokyo National Museum) is a waiver written by Tameuji (48 years old), stating that Tameuji hands over the ownership of the land to Tamesuke. Both documents are valuable materials that show the remote cause of the separation of the Fujiwara family in the Kamakura period and the handwritings of two generations of the family. They were designated important cultural properties on June 12, 1975.
