There are 32 stone Buddhist sculptures (7 in China, 21 in Japan and 4 in U.S.) handed down Baoqing-si Temple in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province in China including 6 pieces that are still in the seven-storied hexagonal pagoda reconstructed in the early Qing dynasty. Each of the statues is carved in relief on a single limestone. This statue represents the characteristics of the early Tang style mixed with Indian style such as the round face, broad shoulders and slender waist, and thin clothing adhering the body. The Buddha seated in the center made the mudra, Sokuchi’in. This mudra based on the sculptures in the Budh Gaya, where Shakamuni (Skt. Śākyamuni) achieved enlightenment. Indian influence can also be seen from this fact.
