Naritaka was a swordsmith from Bizen Province (present-day Okayama Prefecture) active during the early Kamakura period. His extant swords are very few. This long sword (J., tachi) is a very valuable example bearing his name on the tang. The metal surface bears a wood-grain texture (J., itame-hada) and the temper line consists of small bumps (J., komidare) of clove shapes (J., choji). This displays the characteristic features of Old Bizen.
